In a lot of cases, inductions end up with emergency C-sections, so if you are given a safer option go for it.
Also, if you choose to give birth naturally, Valerie's size may cause you to tear. Just think: your private parts will be untouched if you have a section. You can remain a revirginized lady forever!!
Don't stress out, I am sure you will be in safe hands. Planned sections are much more under control than emergency ones, so be optimistic. | You're revirginized comment has put the first smile on my face today! I'm beginning to see what everyone is saying about opting for the elective c-section. It is the much safer route for both her and I. Yes, DH already has given thought to how much Valerie will tear me if I was induced and you should have seen the look on his face! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Sending you lots of your way at this time when you must have so much thoughts running through your head.
Personally I would opt for the c-section, but obviously it's not me so in the end only you can make the decision. I think it's a case of weighing up all the pros and cons of each method and going with whatever is the safest way for you to deliver your little girl. If there is a chance that a vaginal birth will pose more of a risk the the c-section makes sense.
Obviously you are worried about surgery so speak to your doctor again about a c-section so he can explain the whole process regarding your worries and concerns.
Whatever you decide I wish you and your girl all the best. xx |

I'm Currently Feeling: | my friend had a c section a fwe months ago and recovery was fine - she was home in 4 or 5 days (they tend to keep us in a long time here anyway) and was walking around the evening of the c section (slowly ofcourse) AND she could pick up baby that night.
I too am going for a c section - its been recomended for me and I'm perfectly happy with that.
You wont feel the surgery and baby will be calm, safe and well. I watched some on youtube and it wasnt scary.
I think having the mother calm is as important as anything. The ones I saw looked very calm and it was just as amazing to see a little baby popped out.
I'd do whats best for you and the baby - seems the c section is best.
if you try a vaginal birth and then something happens and you end up going for an emergency c section it'll be less calm. I know many will disagree but if i were you i'd go for the calm option - it's no worse for baby, in fact it's better in your case.
Plan your c section as you would a birth - plan what you want and dont want - it's still YOUR birth after all, just a different route.
and as someone once said to me - births are loike weddings - we spend ages agonising over them and then they're over in a flash and it a distant memory. what really matters is the years afterwards. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Don't question your decision Jenny, just decide whatever is the safest option for both you and Valerie. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | go down the safest route hun. if thats the c section then i would do it. your recovery time may be longer but ull have peace of mind. i have had a few friends that had c sections and were very happy with them. didnt feel a thing and were awake the whole time. the only thing u might feel is a pulling sensation and also a marker when they draw the line of where to cut. forget the horror stories they are terrible but very rare. good luck. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Just wanted to send you some and wish you good luck with whatever you decide. I havent had a C-section but if I had one moment of doubt that I might need one I would opt for that rather than the thought of suffering a long hard labour only to need a section in the end. | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | The business of being born
There's a link in this thread to watch the documentary Business of Being Born. This is a great movie to watch no matter WHICH birth method you choose- vaginal or c-section.
And Jenny, the one you choose will be the RIGHT one for you and your baby.
Prayers and thoughts are with you. |
