What else can I take

I have had toothach since friday and have been taken paracetomal but its not helping and I now have a headach too. I went to the emergancy dentist on friday night but he wasnt very helpful and said there was nothing he could do until after I have my baby. What else can I take except paracetomal.

when i started suffering with really bad migraines i was told to take co-codamol but only 8/500g strength and my midwife has said these are safe. I have read otherwise though and only take them when i am absolutely desperate.
i wouldn't take them without consulting your doctor/pharmacy first though.
hope u feel better soon xx

Hi

Thanks for replying. Its not quite as bad at the moment but I have been keeping myself busy to take my mind of it. Might give the midwife a call and see what I can take as I can't take co-codamol as I had a bad reaction to it last time. To be honest I never thought about phoning midwife about it.

Have you thought about a homeopathic treatment? These won't harm the baby at all and have been proven to work. Also reflexology can apparently help with toothache, they are both alternative methods so are safe for baby as there is nothing else other than a salt mouth wash to ease the infection but that's all it will do, it can't cure it.

Oh my god your emergency dentist seriously needs a slap!
I had trouble with my teeth in the early part of my pregnancy,i wasnt registered anywhere and they referred me straight away to the hospital to get my last wisdom tooth out then to a practise to get the rest done like hygienist and fillings etc.
If i were you phone nhs direct on monday and get them to get you in somewhere and tell them what that useless sod told you on friday!
Take the paracetamol and go to a chemist/boots on monday and ask for "anbesol" or "ambesol" (cant remember the spelling) its a liquid you can put directly into holes or on sore teeth and its brilliant.
I have never used it in pregnancy before though so double check on that. I know you can give it to teething babies too so im guessing it would be ok but check first.
Hope you feel better soon

Aww, i am guessing the dentist wouldnt do anything as you probably need an anesthetic and xray which he will be loathed to give you whilst pregnant. If it persists and gets too bad, they may take the risk - but you dont have too long to wait.

I really dont think you can take anything whilst pregnant, but you might be able to take extra strength paracetamol. make sure you check with the head pharmacist tho, not just the check out person!

If you find a new dentist also as for a fast acting anistetic. I had to have some dental work done when I was first pregnant, and the product my dentist used only lasted about an hour instead of the all afternoon totally numb stuff he would normally used.
