Antenatal and parenting classes

When I was talking to my midwife she gave me dates of a 5 week parenting course at the clinic. I'm assuming these are different to antenatal classes? And if they are should I do both?

I'm not sure but I would have thought they'd be the same thing.

Our antenatal classes were called parent classes so I would think it's the same thing.

There were two types in our area... one was 5 x 1hr sessions at the local health centre that were for women only, and the others were 3 x 2hr sessions at the hospital where Ill be having the baby, and my fiance could go too.

We went to the ones at the hospital because I thought they would be quite specific information e.g. visiting times, pain releif methods, the length of stay after the baby.. etc, whereas the ones at the community centre cover two hospitals, so I didn't think it would be as appropriate for us. The other reason was I wanted Matt to be there because he takes in more info than me, and he needs to know all the stuff too!

Before you go, I would say just check what they cover and what the rules are relating to partners/relatives/friends going with you if thats what you want.

The ones we've been to are quite useful so it's definately worth going if you can
