Last night

I think I need some advice as I'm not too sure what my body is doing.

Well last night I was having quite strong contractions. I went down to the kitchen to tell OH but he got angry at me for standing there doing some strange (in pain) dance. Then me made me start waitressing & when he's yelling at you for service you don't say no! Eventually another member of staff pointed out I was having contractions & he came and appologised.

The contractions slowed for a little while, mid evening but then got worse when I went to bed. They seem to really hurt when I lay down. I got some sleep but woke up at 5am still in loads of pain. Then I phoned the hospital but they wanted to know the time between my contractions. This is where I needed help. I really don't know! The pain seemed to come and stay for ages while my belly was rock hard and then it would fade but I could still feel it & the next lot of big pain would come back within minuits. I don't know how to define where a contraction starts and stops. The pain seemed to always get worse if I laid down or stood up from laying down.

I took some paracetamol and went back to bed and now they seem to have stopped but my belly still feels a little like I have period pains and my back still hurts. I really don't know whats going on but I hope LO is ok in there.

You have had a few signs the last few days hun, so this could be it. I don't know what proper contractions are like because I don't think Ive ever had any before. Is there anyone with you who can help you to try and time them?

I can't really help you for when your contractions start and stop, as I have no clue, but someone gave me this website with a contraction timer. Maybe it has more info?

http://www.contractionmaster.com/

I haven't felt any contractions so haven't really looked at it, but hope it helps.

A couple weekends ago, I had exactly what you are describing. I had to sleep out on the couch for a couple evenings, because I was in pain laying in our bed. What I thought were contractions ended up being BH's, because when I went to the doctor yesterday he told me that I wasn't dilated anything. True contractions will change your cervix...so these must have been BH's. I really couldn't put a time on mine either, it was more or less like constant pain. I'm not saying yours are BH's, but it is a possibility. Drink loads of water and see how you feel. If they get worse, I would definitely go in! Keep us posted!

Thanks everyone. Well I was feeling better for quite a while today but in the past half hour they've started to come back again, although nowhere near as bad as last night. I think if they get bad again I will go to the hospital, even if they just check me over and send me home. At least then I will know whats going on!

Thanks, I hope it works. It's a bit annoying when it goes away. All that pain for nothing!! Also the fact that it doesn't seem to be really getting worse. Does it matter that I haven't even lost my mucus plug yet?
