I went for my 40 week appointment last monday on my due day and they never mentioned a sweep, anyone know why this is ? my mw just said if i havnt had him by thursday 8th may i have to phone hospital and go in to be induced xxx

No idea coz, i would have thought they might have given you a sweep before an induction because that might be the little kick start you need..

Maybe your MW isn't to keen on them.. They don't seem to have great success anyway, if anything they seem to trick your body into going into labour for a little while but thats about it.. If your body isn't totally ready for labour I don't think the sweep is much use really..

Great news that you have a kind of deadline now for an induction..

With my 3rd i had a sweep on my due date, but different hospitals seem to have different procedures regarding this

If you'd rather try a sweep first, why don't you speak to your mw about it.

You should ask your mw if you want to give it a go - I know it worked for me. Hannah was born the day after getting a sweep at 5 days overdue

hmm im not sure what to do, i dont like the sound of what they do lol but i suppose being induced isnt any nicer lol xxx

I asked my doc to do the sweep, I dont think she would have brought it up on her own either. At least you know at the latest you will have your LO by the 8th.
