does reflexology help to bring on labour?

i had a session of reflexology with my midwife this afternoon to try to encourage labour to start as she has said that i am all ready to go at any time now!
She could make my bump tighten when touching the part of my foot that is connected to my womb and said that she could feel pips heartbeat in my left foot so this meant she was lying on my left side.

Does anyone have any experience of reflexolgy and if it works??

Thanks girls!

I've got no idea how effective it is, but I WAS reading up on both reflexology and acupuncture as methods of encouraging labour yesterday.

I'm really interested in how this works out for you, as my Daughter is interested in natural ways to help things along - if you go into labour within the next couple of days then I'll be booking an appointment for her LOL

well ive been having accupuncture all the way through! ive started the labour inducing treatments now i had a sweep and accupuncture the sa,me day and im 3cm dialted not had any pain and ive lost all my plug! i think it helps its ment to soften all your muscles so you have a easier labour!

tattiesmum if your daughters intreseted she needs to go now as they have to build it up before they can do the really labour inducing treatment! x

Oh my goodness, I want your MW!!! Mine won't even entertain the idea of a sweep until 41 weeks!! She's a right battleaxe! Worth a try - let us know if it works!!!

I am convinced that the reflexology my brother performed on me aided the conception of this LO!! After several MC's he pinpointed where the problem laid!!!

I know some people are a bit dubious over it's effectiveness but I believe in it. Whether it can bring on labour on it's own I am not so sure.....but if you are ready I am sure it will have some kind of effect!
