breech baby 34 weeks

hi ladies really need some advice, i am 34 weeks pregnant, have polyhydramnios, and my baby is feet down , they have said it is unlikely too turn now and i am due back at 36 weeks either too discuss a c- section or them tring too move baby, which they said can be uncomfortable, im really scared as dont want a section , i have had 3 previous births, all normal births, and large babies, what are the chances of baby turning between now and 36 weeks??? i am feeling so uncomfortable as painfull and lots of braxton hicks so worried xxxx

Well, I'm in the same boat as you as baby is still breech as far as I'm aware. I've been told they start checking more between 35-37 weeks, and I've also heard stories of babies who have turned on the day of labor! I do feel for your conundrum as I too do NOT want a section and not sure whether or not baby will turn, so it's definitely something on my mind at times.

Some ladies have said that if you can just let nature take its course and go into natural labor, that it's good for the baby to experience the contractions. I'm not sure the details of why but just wanted to pass on what I've heard...the idea being to give nature every chance to do its thing and if it still doesn't happen, then the section is the last resort.

Obviously the downside of that is not knowing either way, and also having it be more of an ''emergency section'' instead of something you can plan for. I'm concerned about this aspect of it as well because I've been told an emergency section means my husband won't be in the room during birth, whereas during a planned one, he would be....

Anyway, I can't offer much more than that...talk to your midwife and see what she says...ask if you can just let things go their natural way and see how it goes, and opt for the section as a last resort...hoping your baby and mine turns soon, the little buggers! lol

Oh, and on the manual turning of baby in the belly.....I've heard mixed reports on this and to be honest, I think I'm going to pass on that option. It sounds like it has a 50/50 success rate anyway, and something about it causing potential distress to the fetus and/or mother just puts me off it. But there are ladies here with successful stories of having it done so it's probably an individual thing in the end.

There are ways to encourage baby to turn, so they say. Not sure of the success rate of these methods but it's worth a go if it works...some that seemed most notable to me are to get on all fours so baby hangs down and has more room to turn, and to do this when baby is active and awake. I could only hold the position for a few minutes so opt for a variation....sitting on a chair backwards so I can lean on the back of the chair and the belly still kinda hangs out.

Other methods are either playing music or shining a light at the bottom of your belly, to attract baby there. I've never tried these yet though.

There's loads more but those are the ones I remember offhand. I think being upside down is suppose to help this too but all the methods I've heard of to do this are just not feasible for me (going to a pool and doing headstands in it, laying an ironing board against the couch and laying back on it so you're kinda upside down....both are just not within my means really and wouldn't trust myself laying back on an ironing board anyway, LOL)....
