pre eclampsia

Has any one got pre eclampsia?? If so what symptoms did you have??? and how high does your blood pressure have to be before being diagnosed with it???

So far i have protein in my urine.
floaters in vision/ flashing lights
sore head at times.
highish blood pressure compared to my normal
swollen hands, feet and some times face (only happened once)

any advice would be really helpful

I havent had pre-eclampsia but I didnt want to read and run. I had headaches higher than normal BP about 36 weeks with my first and my MD told me to ring labour ward if I got flashy lights, which I did. I rang them and they called me in and monitored me for half an hour. I was fine in the end. Does your MW know you have all these symptoms and has she given you any advice? x

I'd highly recommend if your getting all of them to go into your labour ward hun they sound very much like symptoms of pre-eclampsia. I've had to be monitored all the way through my pregnancy as i was considered high risk for pre-eclampsia. Better to go in and let them ease your mind and monitor you. x

I had pre-eclampsia with my first, and had high blood pressure ( in the end it was about 180/120) but when they first diagnosed me it was maybe 130/90 which is high for me. I had very bad swelling, protein in my urine, the spots in my vision and headaches in the end... I hope you are being monitored very closely because they told me that if i had any headaches at all or blurred vision to call!

Yeah you have to go down to labour ward be checked and it's not the high bp that confirms pre-eclampsia they have to do blood tests, but those are all symptoms so you should get checked.

The swelling doesn't usually go down, and is rather alot, I had the swelling up to my knees! Cldn't put any shoes on at all. Now I don't know if this is a general thing or just me.
Bp usually when bottom number is over 90 they don't let you home until sabilised or if the top number is over 160.

I agree with previous advice, if you have all those symptoms dont wait around hun! Go to the labour ward immediately. x

i have high bp and slight protein on friday i had to be monitored, bloods taken and hooked up to the machine that prints out the baby's heart rate.

have to have 24 hr urine sample today and go back tomorrow with it for more bloods

midwife came out today for bp check and a urine check, bp is still raised 140/90 but the protein that was present at ++ is now at a trace.

i would definately recommend getting checked over! since having the high bp i am on daily checks

Hi,

I am now being monitored for pre eclampsia. I went for a routine ante natal check up 2 weeks ago and my BP was 140/92, I had severe swelling to my feet and protein in my pee.

I had to see my community midwife a few days later to have my BP checked again and it had come down but I had more protein in my wee and my feet were still badly swollen.

Another sign to check for is a sudden gain of weight like I have had. I have put on nearly a stone in 2 weeks!! And I was doing so well

Like all the other girls said though, I hope you are being closely monitored and if not kick up a fuss. Don't let them fob you off as you and your baby are the most important issue.
