Seriously, what are the chances of her coming before I need to be induced?

Im booked for induction on Monday which im absolutely dreading.

Ive heard loads and loads of stories of people's babies coming the night before they are due to be induced.

I had the easiest, most straightforward birth possible with my first and was hoping on having the same again, the thought of being induced brings me to tears if im honest.

So, what are the chances? And does anyone have any positive induction stories to share?

There was a several page thread of positive induction stories on here a few weeks ago. Best thing you can do is relax. The more you stress, the less likely baby is to come before then. Take a long hot bath.. make someone go get you some bath salts or oils or whatever makes you feel relaxed. Light some candles, play some relaxing music and tell baby you are ready for her to come. It will do wonders for you mentally and physically!

Remember that if you do get induced and the pain is too much you can always ask for help and medication. I know they will be happy to do what they can to make you comfortable. It's never as bad as we fear it's going to be.

I have three friends that I know of, who have been booked for induction and either knowingly gone into labour on the day/day before it's booked OR gone for their induction and been told they are already in the early stages of labour. All is not lost yet.

Good luck. x

You know you don't HAVE to be induced?
Why don't you ask them to give you a scan to check baby is ok and sizewise and leave it a little longer if you want?

Thanks ladies

I know 3 women in RL and a few on here that have also gone into labour either the day they are due to be induced or the day before so im still holding out hope.

I really dont want to be induced but have already been told baby is likely to be quite big and my daughter was only 4 days over by NHS dates but when she was born my placenta had started to fail so I dont want to leave it too much longer just in case.

Going to relax tonight and hope and pray for a mothers day baby

xxxx

Just to echo Lucky Salem - you don't have to be induced.

You can, if you wish, opt to delay induction. In our PCT, if you make this choice, once you exceed 42weeks you are reviewed and scanned daily to make sure everything is still ok with you and LO. Your MW should be able to go through the pro's and con's of delaying induction if you think you might to prefer waiting a bit longer to see if things get going naturally.

Fingers crossed that your LO decides to make their appearance in the next 24/48 hours of their own accord
