This hasn't happened to me but it did happen to a friend of mine. They kept a close eye on her and she had lots of extra scans and it all sorted itself out. She gave birth to a perfectly healthy baby boy just before christmas.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help... just wanted to let you know that I don't think it's as bad as it sounds good luck for wednesday x x x x

this happened to my sister with her first baby - it went away on its own and she is now a healthy 8 year old girl!

I don't know if it's the same thing but one of Ally's kidneys was dilated at 20wk scan. we had another scan then he had 2 ultrasounds after he was born at 2 weeks and 2ish months. He also had 3 months on antibiotics. It sorted itself out. I hope your appointment with the consultant goes well. It can seem so daunting, I remember

Awww hun, dont worry, the exact thing happened to me when i was pregnant with my daughter. They noticed it at my 20 week scan, so i had to have another scan at 29 weeks to see if it had cleared up by itself, which it didnt. When my daughter was born she started immediatly on antibiotics (called trimethoprim) to prevent urine infections, and at 6 days old she had a scan on her kidneys to see yet again if it had cleared up. She was diagnosed with kidney reflux. When you urine goes from your kidneys to your bladder, all of it should come out when we urinate, but in kidney reflux, SOME of the urine goes back up to the kidneys.
My daughter was on trimethoprim for the first 3 years of her life, her kidney reflux never caused her any problems and she had regular check ups at the hospital, from 3 years old she was discharged from hospital and since then she has STILL had no problems (she is 7 now).

I know it is very worrying when something is found to not be quite right with your baby, but i can assure you, kidney reflux is something that is managable and babies usually "grow out of it".

All the best for the future

Hi scrummy mummy, Havent had this, but we were told the fluid on the right hand side of the brain was quite high (20 wk scan). We have a scan next monday /(34 weeks) to recheck this and a low lying placenta. When you first find out these things it can be really tough and the internet can be a horrid place when you try to research it. But try to hang on in there until you know for sure (hard though it might be), a lot of these cases they tend to work themselves out. Good luck
