Baby shower ideas: for a friend

Hey ladies, am popping in from the TTC section with a quick question for all of you. We plan to throw a surprise baby shower for a friend this weekend. We are really short on time and need to whip something up real quick.

I was trying to gather some ideas for "do it yourself" favors for the guests. Any ideas? Anything that you had for your own showers and loved?

Any other ideas with regards to decorations and games are mossttt welcome! Cheap and quick ideas will given extra stars

Thanks a lot friends. Good luck as you near the big day. And please do send my way some baby dust - I could really use it!

I hosted a baby shower twice and for the games I had:

1) Baby bingo: I made cards that had several pictures of baby items on them. As the guest of honor opened the presents, she called out what she got, and the first one to make a bingo, got a prize.

2) We had a game where we split up the guests into teams of 4 each. One was the model. We distributed tissue and colored paper, scissors and tape to each team. Then gave a 15 minute time limit to the ones who could dress up the cutest baby. Each baby model had to parade after and be judged accordingly. The guests really enjoyed this game.

3) I downloaded a scrambled baby item game on the internet. Distributed it to the guests and the first one to unscramble all the words won a prize.

4) Since some guys attended, we had a game where we filled a 40z bottle with apple juice. The first one to finish drinking won a prize.

I decorated the party with balloons and balloon pacifiers I made. Let me see if I can post a link to the photos:

We only did one game at my shower as I find most of them tacky. The guests had to cut a piece of string to the length they thought would match the girth of my belly. The closest guy and closest girl got a prize. There weren't any decorations. It was just a pot luck coed get together with a few of my friends really.

A game I have played at showers is guess the baby food.

Buy small jars of baby food, take off or cover up labels. Have the guest, guess the type of food.

I done it where guest are allowed to taste and/or smell and where they are only allowed to look.

There are plenty of ideas on the web, too.

i had one last weekend and my friend organised games for me. we did the string one, we did one where she put 10 baby items on the table we had to memorise them then she put thjem away and then we wrote them down, the one that remembered the most won, also she had a bag, blindfolded us one at a time, and there were 10 baby items in the bag we had a time limit and had to feel them and then right down afterwards what we think was in there, the most won the prize. another was we each had a paper plate, put the paper plate on your head and draw a baby. that was my fave, the best won the prize (prizes were just a choccy bar). didnt decorate or anything, basically just like Seity did we just had abit of an afternoon tea with some close friends. it was 4 of my close friends and my mum and 2 sisters. one of my friends turned up with games and prizes so that was ok, but i wasnt going to organise games for myself, i find that sorta thing kinda awkward, but my friend sorted it and it ended up being really fun. And everyone brung a plate. Oh and everyone bring $2 and wrote down the date and weight they guessed and the winner will get the money ($14) lol

My OH wasn't there he took my little brother and sister swimming
