That's exactly how I can explain my discomfort...
I've been having alot of SPD pains and now this as well, it's just like the feeling down there when your period is coming.

Has anyone else had this feeling?

Yes I've been moaning about this for the past two weeks! I keep checkng I havn't come on haha

I've felt this for the past week or so...down in my lower abdomen and in lower back...sometimes with BH but never regular...I guess that's all part of it...if it get stronger and closer together then I guess that means somethings happening!

Yes I've been having it for several weeks now and sometimes it's really painful. I had it this morning and it lasted ages and really hurt!! I've read it's like Braxton hicks - just ones which feel different. They're meant to be good because they're supposedly the ones which soften your cervix.

Well they're not doing anything to my cervix!

when my labour first started it was like severe period pains.. much worse than the contractions etc!

You don't seem to have much luck!

I used to have terrible period pains when my period happened. They were agony and I used to be stuck on the sofa often in tears. No amount of pain killers ever helped either. If thats what labour will feel like then but at least I will be prepared!!

ye im the same with my periods.. on the couch unable to move and living on pain killers...

the first 4 hours of 'early labour' were fine and then i had about an hour severe period pains before the contractions really started!
