'Oblique' Baby position

OK so yesterday my widwife said that the baby was lying 'a little bit wonky' - quote.

i googled the oblique position and this is the diagram i found

this to me is NOT a 'little bit wonky'!!!!!!

im hoping that by my next midwife appointment she has either turned the right way or turned breech.. then at least i know what im dealing with.

if she stays oblique then we will have to wait until labour starts and then see which position she moves into.. meaning i could have an emergancy c-section. unless she comes out shoulders first

My baby had been laying like that for ages and now he's turned head down but he still sticks out one side and is facing the wrong way I think. Every now and then he feels like he's shifted back to laying like your baby and then he moves back up again.

I hope your LO decides to move for you soon. It doesn't really look like a comfortable position to be in!

Tezzy try not to worry,i have read about this as i am paranoid my LO is going to be breach as its been very common in my family.
I think its when you get to about 37 weeks is when they start really working out which way baby is as then they can send you off to get baby manipulated to turn around. There is plenty of time for baby to move on their own too.
My midwife also domonstrated on a lil dummy baby about how the contractions and labour swivel the baby into the right head down position 9 times out of 10.

my babe likes the 'Oblique' position too!

I'm now 30 wks along and my baby too loves to lye in the 'Oblique' position. She sometimes moves to tranverse but usually she's hanging out in her fav' O position. My doc said I shouldn't be worried as she still has plenty of time to get into the propper position.

I;m just starting to feel her head and tell the difference between her kicks and punches...which helps me to determine how she is lying. When I sleep I wish she'd move so it doesn't feel like I'm crushing her head!!LOL!

I hope your babe will eventually move for you, but remember that if that doesn't happen there are other way of encouraging her/he to move. You should ask your doctor to explain it to you or you can try googling it. I'm a google freak-I can't seem to stop...lol

let us know how it goes....

Wow thats interesting. I bet that the baby wont have a hard time turning head down though in that position. Its head is already downish it just needs to shift a little, I would think that would be better than breech. I hope your LO moves for you!

That doesn't seem very comfortable. I hope your LO moves head down soon.

I would have thought spending all day on your head would have been quite uncomfortable too though? I wonder if blood rushes to their heads?

I'm 32weeks and 5 days, at my last midwife app i got told that the baby is laying oblique. She didn't say what that meant, she just wrote it on my notes. After seeing that photo i'm starting to get a lil worried. The baby does move around alot especially when i'm driving i can feel the legs and feet under my ribs and it is really uncomfortable, but when i'm laying down the baby goes back in the oblique position.
Hope it turns soon.
