I am perfectly happy to have both my parents and my OH's parents to have the baby, but only when I feel she is old enough. However, if I had any issues with them, as you have, I would NOT.
My only issue is the way my MIL takes it for granted that she'll have LO at least once a week (she will NOT)! She looks after OH's nephew Mon-Fri as my SIL works, and she just assumes she'll see ours as much. It's gotten to the point where SIL worries her LO thinks that his gran is his mum! I have taken a year's maternity leave to look after MY child, not to pass her from pillar to post.
This does sound pretty negative, but honestly I really like my MIL, she's great. I just hope there won't be too much tension when she realises she wont be seeing our baby every day, or having her for much time at all really.

I would be fine with either of my inlaws looking after my wee one, but not right away, because they are too tiny to be away from me! I wouldnt even let my own parents look after my baby, till they were around 6 months at least. My MIL, I would trust her with my kids, she doesnt particularly agree with how I bring them up (she is an AP type parent, I am routine, old school type i suppose) but always sticks with what I ask her to do.

I wouldn't let your in- laws anywhere near my child- they sound awful!

I'll probably let my mum and my in-laws look after LO for a few hours when she's a few months old, I'm nit sure about overnight- probably depends what sort of sleeper LO is and if I can express etc. I trust them to look after her as they'd follow my instructions and wishes. I'm very lucky with my in-laws and feel so sad that some of you have awful ones
