Menstrual like cramping and lower back pain 34 +3?

Hi girls,

I had a really terrible night sleep last night as I had such bad back and hip ache..I do have SPD and hip problems anyway but this morning I have been haviong what I can only describe as that "heavy" like feeling when I am having a period. Kind of crampy dull ache, along with lower back pain. It eases off when I walk about but wondered if it was normal at this stage?
Also, I dont know if ive even had Braxton Hicks to be honest so cant compare them with these!!

Thanks in advance xx

i have had this all week , its getting really really uncomfy. i had spd with my 1st 2 pregnancies and stupidly thought i had escaped it this time...but it arrived last week and now i can hardly walk, and along with the back cramping it is pretty nasty.
It is probably just the baby starting to drop into ur pelvis, i know from experience that this can be the cause of the crampy backache. There is not an awful lot that can be done about it .
Try having a warm bath, pillows between the knees and under the back when u lying down etc.
I hope u feel better soon xxx

EDIT: also it is pretty normal at this stage xx

yeah cause u can be in the "start of labour" for weeks before anything actually happens. I had all these cramps for about 4 weeks before my DD2 was born last year

When I started contractions with my first child, I had cramp like pains in my abdomen which would follow with pain in my back. I felt like I had to go to the loo because of an upset stomach. My back pain seemed to get worse and the pain in my abdomen too. A few hours later, I lost my plug then I started having more contractions. I went to the hospital early morning as the contractions were 5 mins apart. I ended up giving birth the next day.
