Breech at 32 weeks....

Baby is still breech at 32 weeks and I'm starting to wonder more about the whole issue. The doctor doesn't seem concerned and said there's still plenty of time for baby to move, but I've read other breech/position threads on here and it does seem like the vast majority of ladies have had baby head down already for weeks or has moved at least by 32 weeks, whereas mine is still in breech. The doc said they start noticing more around 37 weeks as baby is less likely to turn then. It opens up this whole possibility of getting a c-section, which I've never considered before.

I always thought I was very open-minded about my ''birth plan'', but in all honesty, the concept of having a c-section from the very beginning never occurred to me. I knew things might happen in labor and it might be an emergency thing, but I never thought about going into it knowing I'd have to have a section, or even *planning* a section.

I'm still hoping the baby will turn anyway and it'll be a moot point, but also trying to sort through my emotions and come to an acceptance that I might be presented with that as an only alternative! I'm not sure why it's bugging me so much but I just wanted to get it off my chest and see if anyone else could relate or have experiences of their own with this type of scenario? Thanks for listening.

Hi hun. Don't have any advice I'm afraid but in my maternity notes (not sure if they're all the same or different) But I've got pictures of the way the baby lays in the womb and it does say that positioning isn't normally something considered as important intill 36 weeks.

Also a c-section isn't the end of the world.. I know that we would all rather avoid them but if it's the safest way (even if it's not the most desired way) then that's all that matters.. It won't stop you doing things the way you wanted to after the birth and even though the recovery can be slightly longer atleast you'll have you're LO with you

Your doc probably doesnt seem worried because its not usually a concern until around 36-37 weeks which means your LO still has 4-5 weeks to get itself into the right position.
Hope this helps a little x

Hey hun

I echo what the others have said, baby's position isnt usually considered a problem until 36 weeks.

My LO was head down at 29 weeks, but breech at 34. I was told she had 2 weeks to turn or I would be offered the ECV (manual turning). I went to my 36 week appt absolutely convinced she was still breech but to my suprise she had turned.

Try not to worry about it at the mo, as your doc said, there is still plenty of time

Thank you so much for your replies KayleighJane, Alisha1985, Sparky0207, and Karlielkc...

I'm definitely trying not to worry about it as I know there's still time but for some reason (like yourself Sparky0207) I can't get it out of my head that baby's going to stay this way! Lol, don't know why but I feel ''doomed'' for it to stay this way. I think I'm just getting stuck in my head over it. It's nice to hear someone else had the experience of being breech in ''later'' weeks (though I know it's nice for any woman to consider all the same, but comforting to know I'm not alone)

God, I'd never thought about baby turning down and then turning back up again after, lol.. so many things I never considered during my first pregnancy. Ignorance is bliss in some cases I think, heh..

KayleighJane, thanks for your comfort on c-section recovery. I don't know why I'd be ok with an emergency section (as would have no choice) but seem to be hung up on the idea of knowing baby is breech in advance and having to maybe plan a section. I think part of it is wanting my husband to be present at the birth and this is just not the way I envisioned it, and also because I'm told by my midwife if it's an emergency or last minute section, husband cannot be in the room, but if it's planned, then he could be (hence I'm debating now the idea of planning a section versus waiting to go into labor spontaneously and only having a section then if things are problematic or baby still hasn't turned).

I'm going crazy in the head, LOL

Has your MW not said she will send you for a scan to check on how baby is at 36 weeks etc? she has said that to me, if she is still breach then have scan to check over everything and then go forward with action, ive been the same as you wanting normal birth biut happy to go with what needs t be done in the situation. The idea of planned seem scary, as its not including hte whole anticipation of waters breaking, showing etc its just yep, booked in, your turn, but in a sense its better to be planned and ready and then you can for certain celebrate and look forward to meeting your LO...just a plus note thats all hun, x keep me updated on if your LO turns, x

honey if this is reassuring i get ultrasounds 2 times a week due to the diabetes and insulin usage. my baby flops so much that monday he was breech and yesterday he wasn't! everytime i go in he's different! lol he likes to move and is tiny (28th percentile) and with good fluid and room he's able too. Your baby still has time to turn!
