Gtt results and low iron count.

Saw my mw this morning and she rang for my results from my tests. My gtt test come back abnormal, 4.2 i think was the first test, then 8.8 was the 2nd test, have to go see the dr asap, so just waiting for a letter now for that. Then it turns out i need iron tablets, which i was expecting anyway, my count was 10.2. So all that and the baby was measuring bigger on my growth im a little upset, i was planning on a home birth but thats now out the window, i am just in case trying to psyche myself up for a c section, im really hoping it wont come to that, but if she keeps growing the way she is now it might just come to that. So upset that things are having to be changed. But whats more important is that baby arrives safely and all is ok after the birth too. So thats what im focusing on now.

Hi,
When I had my GTT last week, I got pretty much the same results as you and my iron count was 10.1 a few weeks ago too. So I am now on Iron tablets and i've just starting doing the finger pricking 4 times a day and control the GD by diet...
I feel a bit like my day has a lot of pregnancy things to remember now for example taking the iron tablets at certain times, doing the finger prick test at the right times each day and also eating a good diet that increase my iron and lowers my sugars.... sounds a lot, but it's not too bad. I'm thinking it will get easier the more we do it?
If you are like me, you will be referred to a diabetic team now. I spent 2 hrs at hospital yesterday meeting everyone, learning how to do the tests and discussing birthing options etc Oh we also have regular scans now so we get to meet bubba a bit more
Hope you are ok, and not too overwhelmed by it all.

Wow 4 times a day for the finger prick test. My mw spoke with the diabetic dr secratary and said i would get an urgent letter or something, so i guess that will be next week. Im a little worried as i dont know what to expect but hopefully it will be similar to what you have done with your appointment. Im dreading remembering to do certain things, my brain is like a sieve lol, but thankfully the oh will remind me when it needs doing. Fab on sharing the same due date too, hopefully all will go well for both of us. I got another growth scan next week on 12 too, cant wait, i feel i bit wrong for being excited about another chance to see my lo cause its a needed scan. Didnt realise there was extra scans needed with gd too. Thanks all for your kind words of support too.
