Anyone live ina stupidly small house?

Me and my boyfriend live in a 1 bed quarter house and in all honesty its tiny, the kitchen barely fits 2 of us in their, same in bathroom, we have a bedroon which the cott is about 2 feet away from it so hard to move about and its really getting me down. Its private rented so expensive but we have no double glazing, central heating, wall insulation, loft insulation. We have 1 gas heater in the whole house. I would have loved for our first born boy to have his own bedroom decorated already for when he got hear but its not going to happen! It sounds silly because atleast we have somewhere to live but doesn't make any difference. Anyone in the same position? Hope to hear back from someone soon x x x

I live in a really tiny flat on my own with my son. It's two bedrooms but you wouldn't think so at all! There is absolutley no storage and my room is so small that I can barely fit a cot in it beside my bed. The kitchen cannot fit more than one person in it - and I swear that is not an exaggeration - I think its the smallest place I have ever seen and I was shocked when I moved there.

The only benefit is that it is so small it was quite cheap and easy to decorate, buy carpet for etc so it does look really small but pretty! I'm hoping to transfer to another area and a bigger two-bedroom eventually.
I know you're privateky renting there any way you can get a transfer to a bigger place through the council/housing association etc?

Good thing to remember is that babies really don't NEED a lot of room! They won't even remember having a bedroom until they are 2 or 3 years old. That gives you plenty of time to work towards a little more space. We actually have an extra bedroom we could use for baby but I feel like it would be wasting money to do that and will have baby in my room until he's a year old. The only reason he'll go to his own room then is because I figure DH and I may want our bed back by then and with my older kids that was the perfect age to get them in their own space without much fuss.

Don't worry about giving them all that room they don't need so soon. You'll be a cozy little happy family there until you figure things out.

Me and OH live in a pretty small flat that was just perfectly sized for us when we moved in, but now I don't know how we're going to fit all the stuff that a baby needs into it! I've resigned myself to not getting to decorate a nursery and not being able to buy all of the furniture I wanted to - we're basically going to be stuck with a crib, a bed sleeper, and maybe an all-in-one dresser/changing table/shelving unit.

We've been trying to sell our condo for the last 6 months, basically since I found out I was pregnant, but the market in our city is awful and we just can't catch a break! We still have 2 weeks left to sell before our listing expires (it's not worth it to relist it until after the baby is born and old enough to leave with a sitter while we get everything moved), but I've all but given up on the prospect.

Creeping in from first trimester.... I live in a studio flat with my kitty at the mo. I hope to have somewhere bigger when the baby arrives but if not, hey at least I don't have as much housework to do Everything will literally be to hand. And when me and baby do move, we'll really enjoy that extra space. This is the same for you too

You could always search for another place with the same rent? You never know, you might get lucky x

Me & my other half live in a private rented, small 1 bed cottage...Its a real shame that in a few years we will have to move, because even though the house is on the small side, we have a massive back garden, no neighbors & its in a beautiful little village!!

Just hope we do find somewhere very similar in a few years!!

x x

We are on the list awaiting the councils response and have been for a long time and they dont take any of what I said into consideration, the cheapest 2 bed places around hear are £550-£600 amonth and with me not working being pregnant and my partner was made redundant makes things a loy tighter!!! It was ideal for me and my partner, then we got our dog and now the baby, over crowding lol. But hopefully something will come up in the future and now the council do the housing scheme through a bidding scheme known as gateway housing. You have to bid on 2 properties a week and in all honesty theirs never anything on unless it means moving a good 1-2 hours away from our family when neither of us drive, so we would be stuck as such, it would send me stir crazy, as both our mums live 5mins up the road. But as they say their is always light at the end of the tunnel and I cant wait to get my baby boy hear, I keep thinking about the first time I am going to hold him, soooo excitin, hope to hear back from you all soon, take care x x

We live in a boat, so pretty small. But I'm not that stressed about the lack of space. We're just planning on buying most things travel-sized (highchair, bouncer etc...) so they will pack out of the way.

Having a nursery to decorate has only been a mainstream luxury for a short while. Our grandparents wouldn't have had them. Many babies didn't even have cots, they went to sleep in a dresser drawer.

And instead of a playroom, we've got local parks and are forced to use them. That's a good thing.
