Question about filling birthing pool

Hey ladies, just a question. I've recently moved house so I have more space for baby and have wanted a home birth for a while now. but I've came across a problem
The hot water system is different to my old house which used to heat up as it came through the tap, which would make it easy to fill a birthing pool. But this heats a tank of water at a time maybe enough to fill a bath but then you have to wait an hour or so for the tank to fill with water again. This makes it seem impossible to have a birthing pool now.. but I really want it to be in water. I could get a birthing pool or smaller pool like a paddling pool no problems with that just filling it that's the problem.

Anyone had trouble with this? replies appreciated!!

xx

Hi hun.

We are in a similar situation and we've had a practice at filling the pool and although it's not quick, it's doable!

We filled it with one full tank of hot and boosted the system as soon as we started to get it heating it again. We filled 4 big pans of cold before we started and the kettle and chucked them in and while we waited for it to re heat we carried on with the pans. Then another full tank of hot and then you can add cold as needed. We have a cover so it doesnt lose heat while filling it too - I got some insulation stuff from a very kind local company who gave me it for nothing.

We have a Home Birth Group here if you'd like to join - you'll be able to talk to other girls who have had HBs and are hoping to have one....there's a link in my signature

You dont need a heater hun. The inflatable ones will retain heat well enough that all you do is scoop out a few buckets and replace with more hot from the tap or a kettle. I didnt start planning till much further on than you are! You've not left it too late at all!!

This is the kind of insulation I got to make a cover for the pool although you can buy a proper cover from the La Bassine people for £20. I got the insulation stuff for free so it was obviously the better deal for me!
