Falkirk and surrounding area NHS Antenatal Classes

Is anyone is the Falkirk area?

I still haven't been given dates for my classes and keep getting fobbed off by the health visitor. She actually told me yesterday that it was probably not worth my time booking in for them as they keep getting cancelled due to lack of support!!
Is it any wonder with that attitude!!

I'm due 14th may and would have thought that I would have had my letter inviting me to them by now!

Mx

I have a sheet and called the number and got told that only class they had was 29th April and was too close to my due date and that it would be probably be cancelled due to lack of support and to speak to my midwife who I can't get a hold of.
Its like banging my head of a brick wall at the mo.

Thanks for the replies ladies

Mxx

I'm probably not a lot of help, I'm under NHS Lanarkshire... But I didn't get a letter inviting me, I had to get the MW to book them, but seen as yours is being so utterly unhelpful I'd contact your maternity ward.

Ours are run inside Wishaw General, so I imagine yours will be run wherever you're birthing too... Good luck!

EDIT: sorry, we were posting at the same time. Can they not book you on to the 29th April classes anyway, at least that way you'd have a slight chance of attending, and that's better than no chance at all!

I am in geangemouth and i had to ask at my 28 week appoiontment and she said i didnt need to book them, just show up but they werent antenatal classes they were parent craft classes and they were crap! Was supposed to be 4 classes and we went to 2 and stopped. It was just a bunch of info you know within 2 days of being on BnB.The info was in my notes though.

Hey hun

National Childbirth Trust does Antenatal classes - have a look at this link - looks like there's one in Stirling that you could attend http://www.nctpregnancyandbabycare.c...&filterres.y=8 - I know you have to pay, but it's only about £7 per session - and there are discounts available to anyone who needs them.

NCT also do parenting and breastfeeding courses for after baby's born too which look great. I'm thinking of getting a membership, cos I think I might need some help with breastfeeding (because I'm currently taking domperidone, fenugreek and blessed thistle plus pumping to try and bring in my milk in time for baby arriving).

I'm in Dollar - moving back to Alloa in June )

Hi,

Don't know if I can be of any help but my Midwife gave me the details for the parent craft classes, they were in Bonnybridge health centre for 6 weeks. I know other people that have gone there before me too, you could even phone them to see when the next batch are starting and see if you could go along.

Good Luck.

I finally got sorted this morning :-).
Start on Monday for 6 weeks. I have missed the first 2 classes of this block but can attend the ones I missed in the block that starts in April.
More half days from work!! Fantastic!!

Thanks ladies
