Panicking about being a mother!!!

Okay, so I'm okay with handling the newborn...the nappy changing..the feeding etc because I've helped my SIL do it with her babies.

But today it dawned on me...

I just watched my little one year old neice projectile vomit twice and scream bloody murder because she's caught the cold and I really can't imagine myself handling a situation like that by myself!

My mum will be helping me with the newborn but what about a few months down the line when I'll be living alone (DH works 2 jobs round the clock) and the baby starts up the way my neice did! WHAT ON EARTH WILL I DO!!!!

Panic has set in for me the last day or two, I spent an hour a day in tears the last couple of days. I really don't know how I am going to cope, my mum is no longer alive, nor is MIL, my closest family are in Bristol and I only have one mummy friend who lives in a different area.

It'll be just fine ladies. We have no young children in my family and I only have a couple of friend's with babies, so I am very unexperienced, but I honestly think instinct will take over. Plus there are books to read with advice if you want to go down that route, and babyandbump will be here with thousands of lovely ladies full of advice! You are not alone!

Like Kristen said, instinct WILL take over! What you guys are going through is completely normal fears, but one day you will look back and kinda chuckle at it. When I was pg with my first, I kept having panic attacks, wondering how will I cope, how will I handle certain situations, the baby doesnt come with a manual so where do I get my answers!?? Well, I finally realized, I will tackle each problem or dilema a day at a time. Don't worry about the what if, or the future. I was even worrying about what school I would put him in! That was just insane! Its unreal how you just 'know' what to do. You will all do just fine! For now, just try to think of the moments when you will be laying back on the couch cuddling with your lo. Just think, for those of you who plan to breast feed, you dont have to worry about any kind of food for at least 6 months! Just take care of yourself, remember that one. We all tend to forget.

I know its already been said but.....do not worry, your mummy instinct will kick in!!
Our little princess was a happy accident and I was always saying I couldn't see myself getting broody or having a child around me full time. About a month before she arrived I found myself panicking about this little person I will be responsible for but honestly, even on the first night in hospital I knew how to look after her better than the midwife did...and you'll find that every decision you make or little step like winding them properly or something lol, makes you far more confident. Emily Grace is only a week old but I am happy and confident that I can be the best mummy to her
Good luck ladies xx
