i had mine a few weeks ago and they just went through what you can expect through every stage of a 'normal' labour, what interventions they may have to use (forceps, drips, monitors ect) and why. what pain releif was available. a little bit on what to expect after the birth. a bit on specific hospital policy like length of stay, visiting hours. and answered any question people had on when to go to hospital when to call signs that something could be wrong, or when its nothing to worry about. i found it quite good, but i think all hospitals do them slightly differntly. but there was no hooo haa breating on the floor for us!! good luck. x

Ah they will be NHS ones then. NCT ones are the ones you book yourself and pay for.

I start my NHS ones next week but have been doing NCT for a few weeks. From what my midwife told me, there is quite a bit of practical involved and you will practise breathing, but I doubt you'll be expected to make fools of yourselves hehe. We have been told to take pillows and drinks and to wear comfy clothes as it will be based on practical work.

NCT is a mix of both, and we have practised massage and breathing, but never had to get on the floor!
