We're on Babybehinds - bamboo fabric reusable ones, as the savings are just too great to pass up and although I'm not fanatically green I like to do my bit for the environment where I can. Probably will regret that when I have all that washing to do though!

My only problem so far is that they seem to be quite bulky in comparison with disposables and I wonder whether clothes will fit comfortable over them without my little one looking like she's got an enormous behind!

We have bought disposables for the hospital as I didn't fancy storing used nappies if she has to stay in for a while.

Just remind him he's paying for all those disposables! There should be some good articles around, too, to convince him. Yes, it means laundering, but personally I'm not going to have much else to do as a SAHM

The Itti Bittis (if I'm thinking of the right ones) have such cute patterns on them!

We've bought over 500 nappies already lol, I tend to go overboard! xxx
Sounds like you're all stocked for a month of nappy changing I was so excited to realise I'd been given 250 newborn disposables at my baby shower, only to work it out that they would only last about a month - if we're talking 10 nappy changes a day...poop I completely understand why you will be using disposables with twins though, think of all that washing!!

Same here! Being the hippy I am, I really wanted to go cloth with my first but quickly realized they didn't absorb very well and were so smelly (hope this isn't the case for the original poster though). I also realized they used so many chemicals cleaning them that it sort of defeated the purpose.

Good luck with your cloth diapers though! I hope it works out for you. They're really cute anyway!
I think the main chemicals cleaning them will just be things like Napi-san to soak them in first, but you are meant to wash them with essentials oils (tea-tree or lavender) Also the absorbency would depend on the liners you have. At the moment mine have only come with microfibre, but I'm going to double up and use a microfibre and a hemp or bamboo insert at the same time for maximum wee coverage

Will be using a mix of very girly-fied:

Flips
Bum Genius V3
Itti Bittis
Tots Bots
Little Lambs
Blueberries
Mini La La's
Cushie Tushies
Kushies

Phew! Cant wait to start using them and am a bit sick of the negativity I get when I say I'm going to use reuseables. I think a lot of people think they are still a piece of terry towel and a few safety pins thrown in for good measure!

Wow you have loads of MCNs That's impressive!

Yeah my mum suggested I use terry towel nappies - I was not impressed! She used them on me...but I've heard they are very messy so I would rather not...plus they're so bulky!! AIO's it is! x Can't wait to see how everyone gets on!

There are a few with pretty patterns. My itti bittis are just plain but lovely colours. Some reusables can be quite bulky I think, but others, like the itti bittis, are slim fitting and still very absorbant. I guess slightly bulky might be preferable over a slightly droopy disposable.

I use Tesco's own and I think they are great. I've tried all the main brands and supermarket ones and I think they are the best. With all nappies - disposable or cloth - you'll find what suits your baby might not suit the next. It depends on how much they wee etc so try a few and see how you go

I've bought Flips with both organic and microfibre inserts for daytime use, and then Bamboo Pop-Ins with extra night boosters for night as they are meant to be extra absorbent for long periods. And some disposable liners.

They are all birth to potty, but I'm going to get a couple of newborn sized wraps and some muslin cloths to use as nappies with nappy nippa clips for at first, as they will be easier to adjust to whatever size baby I end up with!

I've also spotted this nappy detergent by Tots Bots which allows you to wash at 30, which I'll be getting. And I think most nappy manufacturers recommend that you dry pail in a mesh bag inside a bin, rather than soak nappies, so no extra chemicals there. You then just throw the whole mesh bag in the wash.

The study that was done on the environmental impact of disposables vs washables I think assumed that you would soak, then wash at 60+, tumble dry, and then iron your nappies (ironing, what is that?!), so if you dry pail, wash at 30 and then just line dry it is a lot more environmentally friendly than they suggested.

I'm doing it for mostly the cheapness factor, especially as I got the Flips on buy 1 get 1 free!

I'll be doing just what you are - muslins to start with then moving on to flips and BG. Though I'm also temted by lots of the other nappies out there so I'm just getting one or two of the ones I like to try them out before investing more in the ones we prefer in practice. There are so many to choose from it can be a bit mind boggling. We were given a lot of motherease nappies but they look huge so we'll need some smaller ones.

Hubby was a bit dubious about reuseables at first but thought they were so cute at the baby show he hasn't stopped talking about them since!
