What is it about pineapple that is supposed to bring on labour?


cos I just ate a whole 'extra large' pineapple from tesco bloomin lovely!

It contains the enzyme bromelain which is said to soften the cervix, but it only has a small amount it so you would need to eat something like 8 for it to work which with all the acid would not be easy.

I don't think I could manage 8 in one day... i think it might give me the squirts too!

I always get a few fresh pineapples and we share them for desert but OH is on night shift tonight so had this one all to myself..

Didnt eat it to bring on labour hun i just love pineapples. lol, dont like pineapple juice though? strange! x

just like tasha said it is said that pineapple contains the enzyme bromelain which is said to soften the cervix, but would have to eat about 8, also eating large quantities of pineapple is likely to stimulate the gut and bowel and, as with castor oil, could kick-start the uterus into action.

have to say it didnt work for me thoe. x
