I knew there was something I forgot - I haven't packed my dressing gown!! I'm using it now though and I'm not buying a new one for hospital!

So far I think I've packed:

# 2 Towels
# 2 nightdresses
# 3 pairs of cheap knickers and a nursing bra
# Maternity pads and a few breast pads.
# Hair brush
# Hair tie
# Lip balm
# Mini shower gel, toothbrush and toothpaste (actually not sure the toothbrush is in the bag....)

# 3 sleepsuits
# 3 vests
# A shawl
# A pair of scratch mits and a hat
# Nappies
# An old flannel and cotton wool for that first poo!

I was going to just take in a nightie for giving birth and then one for afterwards. I think Id feel more comfortable in my own than in a hospital gown.

Someone at work told me to take 2 in as well, because he said the one his girlfriend gave birth in stank for weeks. She ended up throwing it out because no matter how many times they washed it they could still smell... something :s Just a tip!

Well, mine's been packed for a couple of weeks now.

Here in France, they keep you in for a minimum of 4 days after the birth, so I have to take quite a lot of stuff with me for the baby. But OH can always bring stuff when he comes to visit if I run out.

They gave me a list of what to bring, but I've added loads of stuff of my own. Had to get my neighbour to translate some of it, cos I had no idea what it was!

The most important thing for me is going to be books to read after baby is born - French TV is total rubbish!!

Why are you ladies taking towels? Do the hospitals not have them?

I bought two tank top nighties to wear. One to labor and give birth in and the other to wear after. Other than that, I don't have anything!

I think the hospitals here in the US seem to provide more when you deliver your baby. Every time I see what people have to bring for their baby I'm surprised as the hospital I'm going to provides so much stuff for baby and mom.
