I had an appt with my GP anyway, and mentioned the insomnia and what L had told me to do/take and he gasped in horror and said I should not self-medicate during pregnancy, and should only take things prescribed by him - a qualified doctor! He actually said 'leave the doctoring to the doctors!' when I told him a medical receptionist had recommended it!

Of course paracetomol and things like that are fine, but if you have a particular illness like an ear infection, it's best to chat to a doctor. Have you tried NHS Direct? They do have doctors who will chat to you on the phone, but it takes a while for them to get back to you.
I thought about NHS but the problem is I know whats wrong with my ears, I know that they're infected and why they're infected, it's just the only medicine I can get for it has to be prescribed, which obviously they can't do on teh phone ='(
