my husband has scared me...umbilical cord? Help please

we got a 3D scan today. This is not medical...

Anyway it went perfectly but while watching the DVD that we got my husband mentioned that he thinks the cord is around her neck....not wrapped really but sort of draped over her shoulders like a scarf, from the back.

Is this normal?

You can sort of see it in the 3rd picture in this thread:

In our 3D scan my little boy was sucking on his cord. I ask my doctor because I was worried about it being up by his head, and my doctor said it was normal.

When i had my 3D scan i saw the cord right in front of my babys neck, draped right under his chin. I asked the sonographer person if it was wrapped or if it looked dangerous and he said nope. Doesnt look like its a threat at all. im sure all is fine hun

Ahhhhhh - so cute. I love the first one where she looks like she is smiling! I don't think you have anything to worry about - am sure sonographer would have alerted you if they thought there was a problem.

Most babies are born with the cord round them at some point and usually their neck. both mine were. Dont worry it's so slippery with vernix I wont get tight and babies are intelligent enough to stop pulling if it gets tight. Totally normal hun

Brilliant scan pics BTW!

In my 4D scan DVD we can see the cord draped over baby's shoulder and I was concerned, but its so wet and slippery in there its not really possible to strangle them, and if cord is wrapped around the neck at birth its easily slipped over the head

I agree with everyone else. It's very common for babies to be born with the cord around their neck. After the head is born, the midwife always quickly checks to see if the cord is around the baby's neck so she can pull it free as soon as she's able anyway.

even if it was wrapped around the neck, remember the baby is getting oxygen through the umbilical cord in to his belly, so it wouldn't choke him as it wouldn't be tight anyway xx
