She's probably about five or six cm dilated because that's when the contractions are most painful and she'd be likely to ask for an epi - She can't be as many as 8cm dilated as after that point it's too late to have one and her midwife would advise her to carry on on her own because her baby would be born soon...

Good luck to her anyway! Hope it's not much longer for her and she's holding her LO in her arms real soon
