VBAC vs Section

well you know if you had a section the first time you have a choice of whether you go for natural delivery or another section afterwards...

whos gone with VBAC and who's gone with another section

just wondering really... i have been saying VBAC (up until 6 weeks ago they were unsure they could offer me natural option but now they confirmed they can as the section i had was not an up down one) as it's getting closer i am not so sure anymore, i have until Monday to make my final decision

feedback would be appreciated

It's a decision you have to make for yourself based on research you've done and talks you've had with your doctor. I had a csection with my first and have gone ahead and planned the elective csection with this second pregnancy in a few weeks. My decision was based on a few reasons; including that my doctor recommended we live in a certain mile radius of the hospital if I was trying for a VBAC and of course; we don't live near the hospital like they'd wanted. Good luck making a decision and remember whatever you choose, be happy with the fact that you'll soon be holding your precious child!

I had a section with my second baby and have been told i am getting another one this time as my first had shoulder dystocia and weighed in at 9 pounds. I have argued about having a vaginal this time round as my second baby was just off 8 pounds but i am not allowed to so people now think im too posh to push, lol

thanks for your feedback :P

i think my mind is swaying towards having elective section tbh... for most the pregnancy i was thinking i would have to have a section only to be told a few weeks ago i can deliver naturally. don't think it had time to set in and i was like ok VBAC is fine... but my consultant does not induce, so he basically has told me if i am late i have to wait 12 days and have a section anyways which some consultants do, and i don't want to be chopping and changing consultant at such a late time in my pregnancy just to have that option... ontop of that i have a nagging feeling i will carry over and end up having to have a section 3 weeks later than i could have originally had one at...

will continue to read up some more and make my final decision before Monday but i think deep down i already know whats it's going to be...

they prolly think ima crazy women going in at 38 weeks saying i changed my mind...

tbh the hosp aint told me much at all about VBAC except better recovery provided that nothing goes wrong....

thanks again guys

I had a c-section with my first because of placental abruption and this time i want to try a vbac as if i do want more children it would have to be another c-section. I must admit i am very nervous about it but i really want to give it a try xx

I was going to go for a VBAC until a scan showed the baby was going to be big again and I didn't want it to end up in an emergency section like the first so have elected for a section.

It is a personal decision though and tough to make!

Kx

I had a section with my first and I am planning a VBAC with this one however, got a growth scan at 36 weeks and if baby is measuring big again then i will opt for a planned section again. Good luck whatever you decide. x
