finally made a firm decision as to how im going to feed bubs :0)

ive spent a few months going from breast feeding to bottle feeding and back again and ive finally decided that im going to breast feed for the first few days and then when im ready im going to bottle feed when i had my son i tried so hard to breast feed but it just wasnt working for us and i really beat myself up about it and got really stressed. i know people say breast is best but its not best for me or baby if im stressed and getting frustrated and depressed about it.
Id also been wondering about how to make up bottles as its all changed since i had my son 8 years ago lol. Ive been reading about bottle feeding and decided i will sterilise the bottles then put half the amount of water needed in the bottle and store untill needed and when bubs is ready for a bottle i will top the cooled boiled water up with water straight from the kettle so bubs doesnt have to wait long. At night i will take the bottle(again with half the amount of water needed)to bed with me along with a flask of hot water so i dont have to go downstairs at night lol

pretty pointless post but just thought i would share my decision

I had no idea that bottle making had changed!!! Hahaha oh gawd it seems like so long since we did all this the first time now! Good on you for giving the BF a go tho, I'm determined this time, I didn't have the support last time and gave up almost stright away, and like you, I felt terrible for it. Got a pump here ready too just in case, have you thought about expressing at all?? x

ive been looking at pumps so i must of been subconsiously thinking about it lol i would like the bf to work but i dont want to get in a state like last time. my oh suggested ff right from birth but just the thought of that upset me, i want to have that special bonding with bubs even if its only for the first few days x

hi sweety i also had a very hard time breastfeeding my son .... he just wouldnt grab on... well my doc told me i might have a problem since my nipples are kinda small... so i was pumping all day long untill he was 3 1/2 months ... i got very sick and week so i had to stop! it was a very stressful and depressing thing for me pushing myself to get enought out for his bottle...he was a every 2 hour hungry baby...so every 2 hours 24hours a day i was pumping .... i am not gonna go through that again... i decided like you to try it out the first days see if maybe she can breastfeed and if all goes well i will continue all long as i feel ok with it... i m hoping at least for 40 days...my nipples seem to be bigger this time so maybe all will go well but there is no way im gonna do all that pumping and stress myself again...no way!!
i hope all goes well for all of us out there who really want to but sometimes it just hard...

Good on you - even if you just give your bubs that first colostrum, it's meant to be really really good for them so you'd be getting her off to a great start

It's understandable that breastfeeding's not for everybody. I'm really keen to breastfeed but I'm not going to feel like I've failed if it is too difficult.

Then again, there's always things like La Leche league (if there's something like that in your area available) and the ladies there might be able to help you to get the baby to latch on.

xx
