I get the big bottles of Gavisgon Advance (peppermint) on prescription, to start with I thought it was gross but you get used to it and I actually quite like it now lol - I just swig it from the bottle!! It always works and I really don't think I'd get through the day - or night - without it!

I tried all sorts of rennies etc but I thought they left a horrible taste in my mouth - it would be much easier in the day time if I liked them rather than taking my huge bottle of Gavisgon with my everywhere!!

I get the big bottle of Gaviscon on repeat prescription from the GP, but I always run out before the month is up, so I temporarily replace it with store-brand Gaviscon (usually called "heartburn liquid" or something) until it's refill time. And I chug it out of the bottle as well - I think I actually quite like it now.

oh sweetie I am sorry you're having it too.. I have to warn you in advance that it does not get better I chew gum most of the time, even at night. I don't really sleep anymore and wake up every couple hours. I tried tums, pepcid AC which helped for about 12 hours (heaven!), tried milk. It's a temporary relief but it always comes back. Make sure you avoid chocolate, coffee, tea (i think decaff is okay), anything tomato-based -- it's brutal every time I eat something like pasta with red sauce; avoid acid juices (like orange juice alas), processed meats, try to stick to non-greasy stuff like pasta, rice, bread. Unfortunately no matter what you do at this point, you'll get a temporary relief only but even temporary feels like heaven

I really sympathise with you, i've been having horrendous heart burn all the time for the last two weeks. I take the Gaviscon extra strength tablets that you chew and they work really quickly. They just taste of peppermint so are not unpleasant all though they do feel a bit weird in your mouth, i find them much more bearable than swallowing the liquid and they are completely safe to take in pregnancy. I take them before bed every night as i seem to suffer most during the night and sleep with a normal pillow and a v pillow to prop me up a bit and it really helps. Hope you find something that works for you soon

my MIL swears by icecream ! Also loveheart sweets or refreshers! Im lucky that milk works for me - i stick a glass of it in the freezer for 10 mins so its realllly cold ! i read a tip in my magazine the other day that said sleeping on your left side reduces heartburn as well, something to do with your esophagus or something !!!! haha x

I have awful heartburn too! I normally just eat Tums like candy - but lately they aren't helping. I think I need something stronger - probably gonna get some Pepcid...

Hope you feel better and find something that works. (besides delivery of the baby!)
