baby not growing

Hi everyone. I am posting this to ask about my sister. She lives out of state and I don't get to talk to her too often. My mom just told me today that she had a check up because her belly wasn't getting bigger. She is due the end of May. They told her that the baby wasn't growing. She had worries with this in her early pregnancy, where they told her that her due date was off since the baby was smaller than by her estimated weeks pregnant. They tested for abnormalities (not an amniocentesis) and was told that everything looked fine and the baby started to grow. She is really worried as this I guess is common with chromosomal abnormalities in babies (when they stop growing late in pregnancy)....or she could just have a small baby <?>. I don't know all the details...as I have never been pregnant and haven't talked to her yet to hear the details. I am worried for her and my nephew IF anyone has any information, please post! Thanks.

I was measuring 5 weeks off on my belly but my ultrasound showed all is well. Sometimes babies are healthy and small especially if they have parents who are skinny or short. I hope your sisters baby is ok

A woman who I know who is also pregnant, her little one has also stopped growing, as did her last child. She had an amnio early on due to her age and everything was fine, for some reason her placenta just stops providing the baby with the necessary goods after a certain time.
Her last child was born early, but was absolutely fine, she was in hospital because she was small, but there were no problems, and she is due to have this baby 3 weeks early, but they are expecting the same, small, but perfectly formed So I hope that maybe puts your mind at rest that they can just stop growing, and it doesnt necessarily mean anything major is wrong with the baby I hope everything is ok for your sister and your nephew

Yes, I remember now, they also said that the placenta might have stopped providing as many nutrients to the baby. Thank you all. I am feeling a little better about it all. thanks again

update: My sister e-mailed me and said that the baby is a little over 5 lbs now and that she might have to have it early...She still doesn't know why he is small but told me that the baby is fine (lord I hope).

Really glad to hear that all is well, and over 5 pounds is a nice weight The woman who I mentioned in my previous post, her baby is also a little over 5 and she is having him 2 weeks early, so must just happen to some people.
