Heartburn - IT DOES DISAPPEAR!

This time two weeks ago I was entering the early stages of labour and STILL suffering from chronic heartburn, swigging Gaviscon from the bottle. I'd suffered pretty much from week 6 or so, to varying degrees.

It continued throughout labour and I even had to take some medication between contractions at one point but the good news that I wanted to share with you was that it DOES disappear; suddenly.

Literally immediately after birth, I could eat or drink anything and haven't touched the Gaviscon since!

I knew when I was still pregnant (feels like a lifetime ago now) I wanted to know how quickly it would disappear so I thought I'd share this good news with all you fellow sufferers.

Good Luck all

That is soooo good to know! I started off just needing Gavisgon at night, now I need it all the time and I'm wondering how often I can get a repeat prescription without it looking dodgy lol!!!

Can you get Gaviscon on precription?! I am getting through a couple of large bottles a week now. I swig out of the bottle like an alky every couple of hours. Can you OD on it? I get the Boots own brand stuff though. Cheaper!

Get yourself to your GP!!! I went to see mine for something else and mentioned the heart burn, he gave me a prescription for the big bottles of gaviscon on repeat so I can get it when I like Its saved me a fortune, I never knew it was so expensive!! Yay for free prescriptions lol!!

I swing it from the bottle too - ahhhh this pregnancy lark is just soooo glam!!

Ah cool! I will call my GP on Monday then. I seriously never thought to mention it, despite the money. May as well make use of the freebies! Like my GP asked me if I had paracetomal on Thursday and I said no but that it's cheap enough and he just wrote a prescription for 100 for me (SPD) and told me to make the most of free prescriptions while I can!

I used to ask my MW or doc for large bottle every visit. I think, on 2 occasions, I needed one in between appointments. Make sure you ask for the 500ml bottle and get the 'advance' version as the normal version is so watery in comparison it only worked for me for 10 mins or so.

Can definitely get it on prescription, which means it's free too!
