29 week foetal medacian scan

I had my 29 week Foetal medicine scan today and the news is kinda good-

First of all, the consultant hasn’t a clue what my doctor is talking about my thyroid – the levels are low, but still within normal. So I have to have another test next week, but otherwise things look ok on that front! Phew! Crazy doctor!

Tommy is 2.5lbs, which is low average. His measurements are all small apart from his legs which measure full term so he is looking long and lanky! Not at all like me!

As for the Spinal bifida, it is most definitely still there and they were able to get a better view of the problem, which looks like one that won’t miraculously disappear when he is born. His head also still looks small, but better than it was, showing more signs of fluid on the brain. So I am still looking at brain and spine surgery as soon as he is born.

Still, there was no bad news – everything is kinda how it was last time, so I am relieved. Four weeks until next scan!

I will put a bit more details in my journal later – for those of you who have followed the detailed story!

I'm so happy that you have good news. It must be so scary but it sounds like your positive attitude is already helping Tommy. I'm sure everything is going to work out fine for you both
