Small fundal height/Ante-Natal referal

When I went to my 25 week appointment the MW said my FH was measuring small.. She said it was nothing to worry about because of my size but she said that if it's still measuring small at my 28 week appointment then she would need to refer me the ante-natal clinic.

I'm not too worried as I seem to have popped again in the last 2 weeks but I was just wondering if I did need to be referred what will the ante-natal clinic actually do?

xxx

I should imagine a scan to check measurements and fluid levels. That's what I had last week for measuring big.

How small did you measure? FH is widely inaccurate so 2-3cm difference us not unusual and usually no cause for concern.

If it's any reassurance I measured 6 weeks ahead but my scan showed baby is measuring bang on and fluid levels are fine too.

I'm 30 weeks and had an emergency appointment and the Dr measured my fundal height at 25cm. Dr and Midwife said they weren't worried because I'm petite. Dr refererred me for a scan, but midwife said she would have sent me for a scan at 34 weeks as sometimes babies play catch up, growth wise.

Also, I've only had my fundal height measured once at 25 weeks by the GP, who had a student in the room and she said to him (in front of me) 'I don't know why they do this anymore, because you can convince yourself its accurate to within about 4 cms!!'.

Anyway, had my scan yesterday and baby has grown consistently since my anomoly scan at 22 weeks. The midwife said that she wants to see me again in two weeks just as a precautionary measure.

Some people have said that the fundal height is accurate, but it is based on averages and who is average - I'm 5ft, so its unlikely that I would have an 'average' bump.

Good luck with it.
