Upset with the docs

I had my 36 week appoinment today and my husband left work early to come...it takes 25 minutes to get there and right as we were pulling into the parking lot the nurse calls and says that the doc had to go and do a delivery. She said, "Oh your probably on your way..." and I was like, "Yeah, I'm in the parking lot." She said, "I'm sorry we will have to reschedule...there is noone here that can see you." I had to reschedule for next week. I got my hopes up! I wanted to see if anything was happening down there... because I have been having a lot of pressure and discomfort in my inner thighs and in the vaginal area. Anyways...I am just upset because there are 2 other docs that work there and I alternate between the docs every week. So why couldn't another doc see me or atleast a nurse?! It looks like they could try and squeeze me in for the next day but no... I have to wait till next week...this is the 3rd time this has happend to me!!! Frustrated! My husband got off early for nothing and we waisted money and gas to go.

Sorry they didn't accommodate you! That happened to me before so now I always double check that the doctor is not on call the day of my appointment. I hope next time your appointment goes as planned

Ick, I'm sorry that happened. The one time that there were 3 women in labor at once when I had a docs appointment they just had us all wait...I was there for over an hour, but at least I got seen...they even worked through lunch to catch up. Sounds like your doc could use a swift kick!

That really sucks. I would so have pointed that out to the nurse who called and pitched a bit of fit.

I am sorry to hear that your appointment was rescheduled.

Unfortunately, these things happen, as sad as it sounds. Gynecologists or midwifes are the one delivering babies and when they have to deliver, they have to go. There may be others on duty in the office but they have their own clientelle as well. I remember sitting over an hour or more a few times for my appointment as mine was out delivering a baby.

I suppose you can look at it the other way around. If you were going to deliver your baby, imagine if you had to wait a few hours while she saw patients at the office.
