Leg cramp hasn't gone away yet and it's been over a day - anything to worry about?

I got a leg cramp in my sleep yesterday morning, and now it feels like a pulled calf muscle.

Someone said that if it doesn't go away soon, it could mean risks of blood clotting - I even wanted to put Ibuprofen Gel on the area to ease the pain but apparently it's not safe during pregnancy.

The pain is still the same. Sharp and achey. Should I be worried about blood clotting?

No idea, my leg cramps come and go. Can you call your mw? Or maybe your GP?

I can, but I don't really want to bother her...seems like nothing but someone on this thread mentioned blood clots which has tuned up my cogs!

Oh gosh...

"If your muscle pain is constant and not just an occasional cramp, or if you notice swelling or tenderness in your leg, contact your doctor. In rare cases (one in 2,000) a pregnant woman can develop a blood clot which lodges in the leg vein (venous thromboembolism). When this happens, it needs emergency treatment (Heit et al 2005). "

My leg is tender - not swelled but very very tender. It hurts if I just touch the area.

I had reallllly bad leg cramps the other night - OMG they hurt!!! For the next two days my leg hurt like I'd done waaay too much at the gym - I presumed that it was normal, spoke to my mum and she thought it was too . . . . I never really thought about blood clots though? It's much better today.

I spoke to my Midwife about it this morning and she said to eat bananas and drink tonic water so stop the cramps, but I didn't mention it aching the next day.

Maybe its worth giving NHS direct a call?

I would call your mw or GP Hun. Some cramping is normal but I am really not sure about it lasting continously for over 24 hours.

I know the best thing to do is call MW up, eventhough I'm probably just being a worrywart. I'll give it a couple more hours, maybe try some stretches and walking and see if the muscle loosens. Massaging the area is totally a no no...hurts way too much! I'll up my intake of bananas aswel!

Please dont think im having ago at you...

But you seem quite worried about this, so please just ring your midwife or GP it is better to be safe than sorry.
As you said it could be a blood clot, It could be anything!!

ETA: You have already left it a day and half? I really dont think you should leave it any longer.
