Antenatal Classes

Would Gurlies who have already had babies recommend going to these? Is anyone going atm?

My midwife gave me a leaflet thingy with different classes on it and im just so confused. Non actually say antenatal theres:
Preparing for life with your baby
Preparing for labour and birth, 2 sessions
Coping strategies for labour and postnatal exercises
Breastfeeding workshop

Im just so confused

Is it even worth going to any of these and if yea what 1s?

Xxxx

I got a leaflet with all the different classes and they are free and u just turn up. I think every hospital is different tho. U should maybe phone ure midwife and ask as the first class is at 30 weeks. X

Hiya

Gosh you've got a lot of options. In my area we just have one set of "parentcraft" classes which basically go through labour and teach you about things that might happen. It was three sessions with the third being at the hospital. The midwife was hilarious and although some of it was a bit cringy / leg cross invoking both OH and I felt better for going to it. Apart from anything it means we know another midwife we could encounter on the big day!

The classes are free that I had. Tanay, ask your midwife for information, she didn't volunteer the info to me and I had to ask (but my midwife is delightfully dippy!).

I do know lots of people who've decided against going to them but I feel forewarned is forearmed and if I know about the clips and the forceps and all the rest of the scary / gross things that could happen, if they do end up happening I won't feel so scared about them.

Up to you anyway Good luck making your decisions but I hope this kinda helped x

Thanks very much girls, I must ask, I was thinking " oh she will let me know" but obviously not! silly me.

I will have to ask and see if I can get on something. I do feel like im pretty prepared after doing so much reading about everything since I found out I was expecting.

Surprise bump do you think you are going to go to the classes?

Thanks alot ready to go xx

I personally didn't find the classes useful. I didn't learn anything I hadn't already read about either in books or on here!

My hospital offer breastfeeding workshops after the baby is here xx
