Question

Working until .....

How long before your due dates are you stopping going to work?

I've left mine as late as possible as I want the full benefit of maternity leave. Basically I'm taking annual leave from the 12th May - 30th May (due date 25th May) and then my maternity leave will officially start on the 1st June. I could probably stay at work longer, but was worried about going into labour while stuck in traffic.

Was just wondering if thats normal or if I'm stopping earlier or later than everyone else.

I've got my baby shower on the 2nd May so it will give me lots of time to go shopping for the things I need :-)

I'm leaving on the 9th May and I'm due on the 2nd June. Gives me 3 weeks to myself. I wanted to go home for a bit and spend some time with my brother before the baby arrives (he's only 7 and I don't want him to feel pushed out once the baby is here because we've always been very close) and also I want to make sure the house is spotless.

I've cut down to 3 day weeks from this week until then though because of the pelvic pain Ive been getting. It's making it very difficult to be here, and my temp has picked everything up really quickly so it makes sense for me not to be here.

At the moment I'm actually more comfortable at work because of the aircons. Its bloody hot outside (its supposed to be Autumn in SA now). Plus I got a really comfy chair. Just find concentrating for 8 hours very difficult which is why I spend so much time chatting on forums :-)

Counting down the days though. I've got 13 working days left !!! We have a couple of public holidays inbetween, yay.

I am going to try and wait until very last minute, I want all of my maternity leave with my LO. This way I can be at home learning how to be a good mom and also start trying to get my figure back. Hopefully I can do it this way, but I guess I will see how things go further down the road. Till then, I have been taking advantage of sleeping whenever I want and however long I want because I know that I will be up with the LO once he gets here.

I took 2 1/2 weeks annual hols I had left which I started on 26th March, then my maternity leave officially started on Monday - my due date is on Saturday - was hoping I hadn't left mat leave to start too late, as if I had gone into labour before it started, they can bring the start date of the mat leave forward, meaning it would have cut into my holiday time, but so far no signs of LO appearing any time soon
