I actually can take 12 weeks of maternity leave. However that is unpaid. I am planning to work up until my due date which is May 12th (unless she wants to come sooner). I'm a teacher and school is out beginning of June...so I get the summer off paid. So I am just taking off from May 12th till August. I would like to take off a little sooner but I need the money...just bought a new house...so don't really have the option.

I'm in a bit of a different situation since I do temp work (no full-time job which means no mat benefits or leave). I'll just quit work when I no longer feel like going in.

In South Africa I think the minimum your are allowed to take is 6 weeks!

I get 3 months Maternity leave at 50% salary and then could optionally take a fourth month without any pay but can't afford that unfortunately.

I've already finished work, now into my second week. It's fantastic, although now I'm at home all the time I've had to start making dinner,
I don't usually cook

There was no way I could have carried on longer, I was working my ass off as I usually would, no sympathy!!!! My maty leave doesn't start till end of May on AL just now. x

I'm going for as long as possible. Plan on working until the 6th June and baby is due on the 13th. However, half term is the week before that, so I only have 5 weeks left of work, then 1 week off, then 1 week back and then I'm off! I think I would try to go until the baby was born if I didn't have to battle for space on the tube with my fat belly!!! lol
