Reading this makes me so sad for you....and so MAD at that doctor!! That is malpractice, and I think you need to speak to an attorney about it.

From the mother stand point....really try not to think too far ahead. Believe me when I say that I know that is easier said than done. However, until you are told that there are issues further than you already know....just try to focus on your sweet baby. I know that it's hard, but babies know when we are stressed. This whole thing is scary, but it will work out OK. He's your baby and no matter what you are going to help him through it all. Once you hold him in your hands, your heart will melt and you will be ready to be his strongest advocate. I know this from experience. It's not a journey that anyone wants to travel, but for our children we will go to the ends of the Earth.

Hang in there!

that is an absolute disgrace. I'm so sorry you are having to go though this honey. I suggest you look into legal advice because they are totally liable with the fact they have been blatantly shit at there job.
I am praying for you that your little one is okay. xxxx

Thank you so much for your support everyone. I will certainly have a mega moan at the practice and if there is anything wrong with little Tommy when he is born, I will sue them.

Doctors have treated me badly my whole life - they take one look at my records and assume I am time wasting - but everything I have ever complained off is explained by hypothyroidism and the only doctor that ever looked into that retired whilst still looking into it. I wonder how many other tests I have had never got looked at.

I have known all along I have it - I have every symptom which doctors have only looked at individually and not collectively. Most of the woman in my family suffer from it.

What I don't get is why, if it is so common and treatable, why arent woman at risk screened for it when they get pregnant? It is just another bit of blood under a microscope - heaven knows they take enough!

Thank you all once again.

Oh my god, I can't believe no one ever checked your results, thats terrible!!!

It's so lucky that you actually persisted because you knew something wasn't right, at least they know now and can check over the baby again etc...

So sorry Emma, stay positive, lots and lots of luck for thursday..

Sounds like it's time to get a lawyer. That's neglect on their part and risked your health and your baby's. I would sue the daylights out of them!
