any one been told baby lying back to back?

Went to mw today for my 34 w appointment and found out that the baby is lying back to back. Mw said to sit on a birthing ball for 30 mins a day as this may help him engage and turn has, she said that if he doesn't turn then it will be a very painful birth. Has any one else experienced this? if so what was the out come?

My little man was back to back (he turned from the right way at 37 weeks!) He was still in the same position when I was in labour but turned around part way through my labour ready to come out.
I think it just made my contractions a bit more intense in my back but I wouldn't worry too much, it's not that bad

My baby was back to back.

The birth was... very painful, but then all births are very painful. My first baby wasn't back to back, and it was very painful having her!

I'll tell you what happened to me - I went into the hospital and I already was having the urge to push. But because my baby was back to back he couldn't get past my cervix. So I was having really painful contractions and trying to resist the urge to push for a good 2 hours. Eventually the contractions turned him around and he got past my cervix. That was the main difference in my 2 births, the 1st birth baby got past the cervix quite easily, and the 2nd birth he struggled to get past it.

I was terrified when the MW told me he had turned as you hear all these stories. Honestly though, I don't think it really makes all that much difference you just feel the contractions in a different place. I was a worrier too but needlessly

hi hun, my son was born back to back and it was painfull but he was my 1st baby so i cant say if it was more painfull than normal. because of my sons position, he got stuck and in the end had to be delivered by forceps. like i say it was painfull, but i managed with pethadine and gas and air so it couldnt of been that bad or id of been begging for an epidural lol x

Yeah, I was told baby is back to back , I've been trying to make him turn, I don't have a birthing ball but I've been going swimming every day and sitting facing the back of a hard chair for an hour a day..am totally paranoid about lying on my back! At my appt last week the midwife said she thought she could feel his spine as if he was trying to turn...I hope so! Although I have read that they can turn during labour. Anyway, figure I'm doing what I can,at least his heads' in the right place lol-good luck xxx

My baby has been back to back for aslong as I can remember now lol.. It has made my back pain throughout pregnancy a little more annoying that usual, My Midwife said "Dont worry about it too much most babys turn during labour".. And even if she doesnt she said it is more painful but there are ways to manage it. Ive been rocking and sitting forward and getting on all fours aswell. Shes still back to back haha, guess thats just where shes comfy!

xoxo

Well I have exerienced back to back labour.. but as the baby lol. To top it off, my mum had actually broken her coccyx just beforehand (I'm not so sure whether that had anything to do with me or not *guilty*), and she still says it wasn't exactly super painful, just real bad back ache & stomach ache. Everyone was telling her she 'needed' an epidural becuase it was going to be so painful & the midwives were begging my dad to change her mind because she didn't want one... and to make it even more fun I was 9lbs 10... And she managed without the pain relief x
