I broke down a few weeks ago and had my highlights re-done. I just could not take it anymore. I was due for a top up when I found out I was pregnant, and could not face having them done. So it had been almost a year since having them done.

I'm naturally dark blonde and dyed my hair black and then left it to grow out and I looked like I was balding on top.... which was nice!

My hairdresser said she wouldn't ever dye the whole head of hair of a pregnant woman, but highlights are ok as the dye doesn't come into contact with you. Perhaps they have to be over cautious or people could turn around to them and say they damaged their baby... but in any case, perhaps go with a semi-permanent as they're not as toxic anyway.

Roots... what a nightmare!

The only thing you have to be careful of is bleaching your hair while pregnant. I think the fumes can harm your baby or something? Also the colour doesn't turn out right. Just be careful.

I've had mine done three times since pregnant, at hairdressers and he highlights blonde, the colours been fine on all three occasions.

I thought you weren't supposed to let colour touch your scalp.... and you need to make sure the rooms ventilated well. Thats what i was told anyway.
