Haha, I had the same one since I was born and I popped into the surgery the other week to give them a letter from the hospital (no idea what it said but they gave it to me after my pre-e scare so I'm guessing it was just to update records) and they told me he had retired and they'd get someone else to read it! LOL

In Feb I got mine highlighted and then also got brown streaks put in and both the highlights and the colour took with no problems at all.

I've decided to get my hair down at the more expensive really good hair dresser a week or two before my due date. Think I'm allowed to treat myself.

Good luck!

I used to be a hairdresser (still do it part time now) and I will not touch a pregnant woman with a whole head colour, no matter what the colour is!

I was always taught that highlights/lowlights are ok as no colour is touching the scalp and so cannot get toxins into you as the foil/cap prevent any colour from touching your scalp. If you really need to use a dye that comes into contact with your skin, make sure the peroxide level is low, it may take longer to develop but will be much safer. Not sure if this is right but its what ive always been taught and what ive always preached!!

As for colour not taking, its usually just because hair is drier or more oily during pregnancy so may take less/more time to take depending on which it is but definitely shouldnt affect the final result.

hey hun, if you are going to do it, do what i did and use a semi permanent colour these have virtually no chemicals in them and worked for me, people are just overly cautious, I REALLY wouldn't worry. i have done it twice and so have many other ladies and all our babies are fine.xx

I read the side of the box and it has hydrogen peroxide in it but the only problems I can find on google (I know I shouldn't be googling it) are ones with amonia in them..

There are no known harmful effects identified when hydrogen peroxide was used by pregnant or breastfeeding mothers.
Quote:
Hydrogen peroxide is a very unstable compound and as soon as you use it over a wound or cut, it breaks up into oxygen and water. The peroxide is not absorbed systemically and it poses no risk to other parts of the body. It is completely safe to use during pregnancy too.
I guess that's my answer lol
