I've not been to any antenatal classes, but do go the the Active Birth Centre each week and have learned a lot about how our body responds to labouring, breathing and the fear of pain being the cause of much labour pain.

I never went to any classes before my first 2. Went to 9 classes this time only because they gave away free gifts at each class but didn't learn anything at all that I didn't already know. Friends, the internet, and books have everything you'll need to know anyway. Got ALL my info from the net with my first.

We have three - the first of which was last week. It covered labour and birth and even though I've done so much reading I still learned quite a bit but it was far more valuable to my husband. He learned a lot that I don't think he would've known otherwise.

I guess it depends howmuch you read on the net and in books. I thought I had read a lot but have still learnt valuble stuff from the 2 NCT classes I have had so far. The bits so far I have found really usefull are how your oxytocins and adrenline work against each other and what you can do to combat this and also the acrronym UFO to remember for birth positions. Upright Forward and Open! The bottom of your coxyx is bendy so if you are lead flat on your back, this can close the pelvic area by up to 30%!!!
