hi all.

well i had a 32 week mw apt this morning, wasnt ment to be until 34 weeks as this is 2nd baby but i was measring 27weeks last time at 29weeks.

well went today and im measuring 28weeks at 32weeks +2 so mw has made me an apt up hospital for next tues as in 4 weeks ive gone up 1 cm instead of 4.

anyways im not to concerned just yet as i know fundal measurements arent too reliable, all through my pregnancy with my son i was measuring spot on all the way through but was told he felt big n expect a 9-10lber n he was 7lb 11 at birth two weeks late!! i was panicking all the way through for nothing so i promised myself i wouldnt this time.

mw did say that she couldnt get good feel of baby that she felt small but couldnt say n that just because she measuring small doesnt mean she is ect , which is how im thinking so thats all good!

anyways my question is what am i looking at the hos doing? will they just measure or are they likely to scan me? and what else do they do?

also mw had made me a home apt to discuss my birth plan as im hoping for a home birth but she said ' we will see what hospital says first so il come a week later see what theyve said then we will discuss your home birth'
now im worried i wont get my homne birth this is something i really want n obviously if its safer for the baby to be born in the hospital, the hospital it will be .. but how likley is it if baby is on the small side i wont be allowed my home birth? does anyone have experience with this or anything?

i dont have any experience with homebirths, but i should think you will be having a growth scan when you go to the hospital. They will just take some measurements of the baby and work out the estimated weight... a good excuse to see bubbs again! Im sure everything is fine, as you say, fundal height isnt really reliable at all xx

I went to the hospital at 37 weeks and was measuring 34cm, they gave me a scan and they said everything was fine and she weighed roughly 6lb 4oz at that stage.
When i went last week (39 weeks) she was measuring at 35cm, but midwife wasn't worried as previous scan was normal but will see what's what tomorrow when I go. I wouldn't worry too much as like you say, FH measurement is just a guide and I'm sure a few girls on here have had the same issue and their babies have been fine.

As for the home birth, I don't know the answer to that. I would have thought if baby is ok, even if baby is a little on the small side you will still be able to have one.
