aww hun your not alone i think every pregnant woman has a panic over money at one point. but you will get child benifit wich will help and you can claim child tax credits and if your on low income you will get more help. and it doesnt matter how much money you have the baby doesnt know the differnce aslong as its loved and cared for even on a budget the baby will be happy.

Hi

It may not be any consolation but i think at some stage we all worry about how we are going to cope. I only work part time so dont qualify for smp so will have to apply for ma. I worry all the time about money, how are we going to afford all the milk nappies etc, but a couple of months ago my partner and i sat and went through our finances and we did manage to cut back on things like unused gym memberships also for my birthday i asked for money and paid off a catalogue bill that i paid each month. Also i applied for a nectar card which is a reward card that you use at various shops, so far i have accumualted about £50.00 on it so when i go shopping i will redeem this money on things like nappies and milk. Somehow we always manage to pull through and like other ladies have said you will get the extra of child benefit etc.

xx

I totally know how you feel. With only one (below) average sized income, moving out to a mortgage of £700, and a new little one on the way, it's not gona be easy. I'm losing sleep over it, and I think my BP is starting to get high aswel. Why oh why does everything always have to happen at once!!!!

I need to sort out my benefits quick!

Everybody worries hun- we have never lived on one wage...dont even know if we can do it- just hoping we will manage. I think you make cut backs and learn to cope- i have gone round and collected as many coupons for freebies during my pregnancy and have got loads of nappies and wipes for under £1- Join tesco parenting club they sent me Coupons- and if you can get relatives to join as well-as thats more, Im going to buy 2 packs of the FF we are going to feed now while im still working, if you can try and get one small thing a week if u can afford it, i only spend £5 and either get nappies or wipes, im going to get FF in March before i leave work!!

I know its hard not to worry but honestly something always comes round the corner, and it does, even if u can save £1 a week- at least u know in a pot somewhere theres £15 quid that will buy FF and the cheap nappies- i know there not great but its better than nothing!!!!

Hi hon
sorry if I'm speaking the obvious here but have you tried putting your mortgage on interest only - I've put mine on to interest only for 12 months and mortgage has gone from £900 to £300. It'll cost me about £20 extra a month after but hey ho - worth it I think.

I feel a little tense about the entire money issue...we built a house last March and moved into it this past December. So while our income will decrease once I am on maternity leave our costs have considerably increased - kind of bad timing. But the way I look at it - it always gets tighter when you have kids. We did the budgets over and over and on paper it looks like it will work but of course there will not be any room for extras and we have our wedding coming up in November. I am sure once we have found our routine I will go and find a job for a few hours and OH usually works on the golfcourse in the summer. Will be a tight year, with a lot of unkowns...

I just don't think about it anymore! I used to stress myself stupid pover money when i fitst got pregnant, but now i just think we'll manage cos we have to. My maternity pay goes down in May to £123 per week, i could sit and stress about how we'll cope, but i'm determined not to.

Try not to worry hun & enjoy your pregnancy & soon baby!

I think everyone worries about money. I constantly worry about it and wonder if we'll make it when the baby is here. Then we just sit there and say that we have to make it, there is no if. It'll work out fine! Others do it on less!

Everything will work out when your baby is here. I don't think anyone stops worrying about money!
