in uk earliest you can book induction? added another question on post 3

Hi

i know the earliest a consultant will induce you if there are no problems is 37 weeks my question is whats the earliest in advance you can book it? i have my next appointment with the hospital for my growth scans on the 18th when i will be pretty much 29 weeks and i was going to ask them to book my date for induction. is booking it 8 weeks in advance too early?? do you think they will say no?

i really need a date sorted out. dh current work contract runs out end of april so he needs to get another job sorted out but he will need to to tell he has holiday booked so he can have a couple of weeks off when lacey is born and the earlier we know that the less we will mess the new employer around. also i have family who want to see her who live over 200 miles away so would be good to give them a date too. dont worry im not being a demanding moo this is my second baby and my first daughter was stillborn hence why i am being allowed to have baby early than 40 weeks. however i am also finding this pregnancy very stressful now i am in 3rd tri (my problem tri) and it would be great to get a date sorted to focus on and know my baby will be coming. i was going to ask for the 22nd or 23 april when i will be 37+5 or 38 weeks.

whats the earliest i can get a date booked? xxx

oh ok

can i ask what happens when they do this stretch and sweep? with my daughter i had been in slow labour for 2 days, had my show and my cervix had a ridge in it so they just slotted 2 tablets into my cervix and then the contracts really got more regular and painful. she was born shortly after that. i found having the tablets put in very painful xx

stretch and sweep is where they sweep there fingers across your cervix to try start natural labour, they have said they will then book me in to be induced for if it doesnt work, yes i had the tablets last time i was induced i was in labour 1 hour 20 min once started.
