would they let you bring baby home?

I was just wondering if you went into labour at 34 weeks and baby was healthy would you be able to bring baby home or would they keep them in hospital? I dont know what age it would be ok.

I was a nurse on SCBU for 6 years, it largely depends on the baby. The baby would go to SCBU to be checked and they prefer to keep them in till 35 weeks although I have known of 34 weekers to go home after a day or two. They have to be feeding well (putting on weight), able to maintain their temperature and there's a weight cut off too (cant think what off the top of my head!) x

I'm not sure hun, I think it would be unlikely they would let you home straight away. A friend recently had a baby at 39+ and bubs was quite small, for that reason they kept her in nearly 5 days.

My sister was born at 33 weeks and was kept in for 7 weeks. Mind you, she was hugh dependency and only weighed 1lb something. It was very touch and go, not that you'd know that from the cheeky teen she is now! Lol!

Presumably it would depend on the overall health of the baby, whether they were able to feed (my sister couldn't for 3 weeks) and other factors.

Call ward or try and see your mw Monday is your whole tummy sore??

Pop a panty liner or pad on and see if it's just liquid overnight if you don't call them tonight.

Take care - hugs
