Hey. When they broke my waters there was a sharpish pain and I remember the slight 'anemic' pain that you get with periods, Labour set in very quick after that, only took about an hour max from there til birth but that ranges for everyone I'm sure!
Hope that helps..

I was in slow labour when I had my waters broken. I'd only dilated from 4-5cm in five hours, so they wanted to speed things up. Things progressed pretty quickly after that to very regular and strong contractions, but it still took 3-4 hours to fully dilate after that.

It was quite uncomfortable when they broke the waters, particularly as the MW thought it hadn't broken and was merrily stabbing away with the crochet hook thing. She was particularly rough, and I was rather distracted by her hitting me very hard with her thumb each time, so I didn't really notice it hurting anywhere else!

I had mine broken and it didn't hurt, I could just feel this really odd tugging sensation.

It didn't start contractions/bring on labour for me, so after 2 hours I was put on a drip x

i had to have my water broke when i was 2cm dilated, i was induced, as id had alot of internal exams when they induced me (which wasnt very nice) it didnt hurt me atall, it just felt like another internal and just felt a pop, i wouldnt worry about it too much hun. as said above though i had to be put on a drip as my contractions did start to slow down even after they were broken, but its different for everyone! good luck x
